So after MUCH pressure to blog I have given in and I will do a post. I think most of you know what's been going on but I will give the VERY, VERY short version of a VERY, VERY long story!
We had no idea what was beginning when it began but everything started in mid-December, December 13th to be exact when Nicholas woke up puking!!! He stayed home from school that day but by evening was fine. He went to school the next day (Wednesday) and we later found out that it was vision screening that day. The next day (Thursday) he was puking again and then basically after that he started his routine of coming in my room every morning saying his tummy hurt and it was all down hill after that!!! I sort of ignored it and let him stay home because it was right before the break for the holidays... although I did not make it very pleasant for him when he stayed home. I hoped that after the break everyone would be well and he would start going to school again! Unfortunately that was not the case! We started the new year out great! NOT! He started getting his convenient tummy aches every Sunday right after Sacrament Meeting and refused to go to primary! Once again, I have made it miserable when he refuses to go to his class! He get's to sit through gospel doctrine and relief society with NO snacks, no drinks, not books... NOTHING! I thought for sure he would be bored out of his mind but somehow he was perfectly content!!!
So... skipping on, it came time for school to start up again on Tuesday, January 3rd. I had no idea that I was starting Kindergarten again as well as William and Jacob! Somehow I thought I was too old and they were too young! After dragging Nicholas in the school with William on 1 hip and Jacob strolling in behind me, the 4 of us spent 2 long days in Kindergarten... Not real fun! So by Thursday when the school counselor was there and William was getting sick from all the nasty germs he got by attending Kindergarten, she came to the classroom and after trying to get any response from Nicholas we all walked down to her room near the office and basically I had to pry him off me and with the counselor holding onto him I had to shut her door and leave the school! YEP! I'm pretty sure it was harder on me than on him!!! So we did that for a few days until we started making the "break" in Kindergarten room and then we started to make the break in the hall... Anyway, after realizing that something was wrong with his eyes and maybe that was the cause of all this anxiety I started to try to convince him to get his eyes checked. On the first attempt I got my eyes checked first.. hoping to be the example that he could follow, I discovered I needed glasses but of course he refused to get his checked! So after MANY failed attempts and many 1 on 1 lunches and literally dragging him in or tricking him into opthomoligists offices and eye places and after MANY desperate, expensive bribes...NO LUCK!!! I even took him to the toy store and said I would buy him absolutely ANYTHING if he would just let a doctor look in his eyes. He would not do it. So after talking to many mothers and eye shops and opthomoligists on the phone I got a referral to a pediatric opthomoligist. BINGO!!!! I think between their approach and their mention of having to go to the hospital and put him to sleep and my threat of holding him down at the hospital while they give him a shot and that I would leave his ipod at the doctors office he finally, slowly gave in! The poor boy is practically blind but they said to him it is probably normal, he thinks everything is blurry to everyone else also!
This is a picture leaving the miracle workers (pediatric opthomoligist) office after having his eyes dilated...
He still has the "My tummy hurts morning sydrome" but things are improving with super brand new baby steps!
I know, you probably are saying, how could this be the super short version? I promise it is!! I left a ton out but I think most of you have heard it all!
Maybe when Brufie returns he can sing A Whole New World to Nicholas!!!

So getting to the end of this... He got his glasses yesterday and has not wanted to take them off a whole lot! He even asked if he could sleep in them! The glass is SUPER THICK and when I tried them on well, all I can say is BLURRY!!!!! He is now discovering the world!!! We were walking through Costco and he said, "Mom, everything is sooooo big!"He still has the "My tummy hurts morning sydrome" but things are improving with super brand new baby steps!
